The Indian film RRR's director, SS Rajamouli, expressed his sorrow for actor Ray Stevenson's passing. In the movie, Stevenson portrayed Governor Scott Buxton. Rajamouli tweeted his condolences, describing Stevenson as a "great actor" and stating that he was "shocked" by his passing. Working with Stevenson, he added, was "pure joy."

Ray Stevenson (born 25 May 1964) is a Northern Irish actor. He is known for his roles as Titus Pullo in the BBC/HBO television series Rome (2005–2007), Frank Castle / The Punisher in Punisher: War Zone (2008), Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2011–2017), and Isaak Sirko in the seventh season of Dexter (2012).

Stevenson was born in Lisburn, Northern Ireland. He studied at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. His early television roles included guest appearances in Waking the Dead, Murphy's Law, and City Central. He also appeared in the television films Some Kind of Life (1995) and The Return of the Native (1994).

The BBC/HBO series Rome gave Stevenson his breakthrough role in 2004, when he was chosen to play Titus Pullo. The show was both critically and financially successful, and reviewers applauded Stevenson's performance. For his portrayal, he received the Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Television Series.

Stevenson had the lead role in the 2008 movie Punisher: War Zone. Although the movie was a box office and critical disaster, critics complimented Stevenson for his performance. For his portrayal, he received a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Actor - Action/Adventure.

Stevenson debuted as Volstagg in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in 2011. In the movies Thor (2011), Thor: The Dark World (2013), and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015), he had an appearance. Additionally, he made an appearance on the TV show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D (2013).

Stevenson played Isaak Sirko in the eighth season of Dexter in 2012. Fans loved the character, and critics complimented Stevenson's portrayal of the role. For his portrayal, he received a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Television Series.

Since then, Stevenson has kept up his career in both film and television. He has acted in the films Divergent (2014), The Book of Eli (2010), G.I. Joe: Retaliation (2013), and Cold Skin (2017). Additionally, he has made appearances in the TV shows Reef Break (2019), The Spanish Princess (2020), and Vikings (2020).
